How to Get BackLinks

In my last blog I brought up the issue of backlinks. A natural off shoot of that is, how do we get these backlinks and what page should we send them to?

What page should we send them to is the easier of the two answers. You have the choice to send people to your blog, or to your agent website, which has a link to your blog. For Realtors I think the most effective solution is to send people to your blog for the simple reason that your blog is going to be more search engine friendly then your website based on you updating it daily with tons of relevent new content. You may not get everyone from your blog over to your website, but the customers that read your blog and then click the link over to your website are going to be very, very interested in working with you.

That brings us to the issue of where to find/create those precious backlinks which are so important to the search engines, especially Google.

Here is a short list:

-Write articles on your local real estate and submit to article directories.

-Comment on high traffic real estate blogs with links back to your blog

-Write PR releases and submit to online sites.

-Participate on message boards/forums regarding real estate and leave your link in your signature

-Submit to Social Networking sites

Over the next couple days I’ll provide you all with a list of online article directories, PR sites and Social Networking sites that are easy to use.

I realize this isn’t very much fun, but dominating Google’s search for your local area makes you tons of $$$ which will be worth it in the end. Stay with me and I’ll help you along the way.
