Parnoid is fine but it can be overdone

We recently decided to use MailerMailer a mass email service provider to reconnect with the many customers that we had using NoWaitArt For those of you that are unfamiliar with NoWaitArt, it provided real estate marketing materials on an exclusive bases to clients of a number of title companies located in Southern California. Unfortunately since the service was paid for by the title companies; such as, LandAmerica, Lawyers, Commonwealth when SB133 passed, it made it illegal for title companies to provide the service.

To prevent problems we spent the money and had the list scrubbed three ways. And then uploaded a portion of the list on to MailerMailer. Great open rates, click throughs and very low spam problems. So we uploaded the second part of the list and got banned!!!

Seems some realtor for someone else’s email had complained. So we were penalized for the actions of another client (wonder if they got banned).

But after looking at MailerMailer we see that they are a bit paranoid. When you login you use their account number. All nine alpha numeric digits and a password that you provide. But then you have to enter a numeric code they provide on a key pad on the screen that translates into letter in a form box. Just to get in!!!

But the reason we decided to stop using MailerMailer is because you can not do a bulk delete. So if 85% of your clients are not opening the email you still have to send them the next email. I think after 5 emails it is pretty clear you are not interested and we really do not want to bother you.

So our recommendation is MailerMailer is great if all you are going to do is send emails that have a real unrealistic open rate.
